About DEPTH

DEPTH is a free browser-based multiplayer mining game built with vanilla JavaScript and HTML5 Canvas. Players carve their way down through 45 distinct ore tiers, from common coal at the surface to legendary Creation ore found only past depth 500,000 meters. The deeper you dig, the rarer and more valuable the resources you encounter. You collect ores, return to the surface, place them in your house to generate passive income, then use that income to buy upgrades that let you dig even deeper.

DEPTH is a real-time multiplayer game. Other players appear in your world as you mine and explore. You can visit their houses to see what they have collected, race them to deeper levels on the global leaderboards, and chat with anyone online by pressing T. Every account is persistent — your progress, money, upgrades, ore stash, and rank are saved on the server and survive across sessions and devices. There is no app to install; the game runs directly in any modern browser on desktop, tablet, mobile, or even as an installable Progressive Web App.

How to Play

Start by registering an account from the home screen. Once you are signed in, click START GAME to enter the world. On the surface, walk left and right with A and D. Use the down key on the mine entrance to descend into the shaft. While descending, hold W or ↑ to ascend back to the surface (you will need a jet belt from the shop to ascend at a useful speed). Press SPACE next to any visible ore to collect it.

Watch your oxygen gauge at the top of the screen — when it reaches zero you start suffocating and lose health. Return to the surface before that happens. Once you are back outside, visit your house (the small wooden building to the left of the mine) to place collected ores into your trove. Placed ores generate passive money every second, even while you are offline. Use that money to buy upgrades at the shop. Get more help under the How to Play page.

Tips for new players

• Buy your first jet belt as soon as you can afford it — ascending without one is painfully slow.
• Save coal and copper for the conversion machine instead of selling them. Two normal ores combine into one Gold variant worth 1.25× the base value.
• Place your highest-value ores in the house first to maximize passive income.
• Watch the depth bar on the right side of the screen to track other players and plan your route.
• Link your email to your account from the main menu so you can recover access if you forget your password.
